I grew up in Hutchinson, a town about an hour west of the Twin Cities and an hour south of St.Cloud. During my schooling years there, I participated in golf, bowling, jazz band, pep band, youth orchestra, and pit orchestra for school musical productions and community musical productions. I graduated from Hutchinson High School June of 2008.
After high school, I attended North Dakota State University (GO BISON!) for my undergraduate degree in Music Education. I had the honor of being taught by very talented and musical educators while studying there. I also was able to involve myself heavily in the music department by participating in both jazz bands, concert band, wind ensemble, choir, marching band, pep band, trombone ensemble, work as a stage hand for the concert hall, and play in the tri-college symphony orchestra.
Upon completing my undergrad I moved to Rochester, MN to start my career. I started subbing in that area and eventually a job opened in Owatonna, MN. I spent one year there as a long-term sub teaching Beginning Orchestra to the 4th and 5th graders at all four of their elementary schools. They had one private lesson a week for 20 minutes with one performance a year at their school talent show.
In June of 2017 I accepted the position as the K-12 General Music and Band Director for Cook County Schools.
This will be our reply to violence: to make music more intensely, more beautifully, more devotedly than ever before. -Leonard Bernstein
